Rethink A "First Look" On The Wedding Day

Updated: Jul 24, 2022

Rethink The "First Look"

Take Your 7 Seconds

As award winning wedding photographers,

We are there to grab the emotions of the day…

Organically!

We want to shed some advice in today’s

DKP Blog

Rethink The "First Look"

TAKE YOUR 7 SECONDS

Why Stay With

Hundred's of Years of Tradition?

Why to NOT

See each other BEFORE the aisle?

TAKE A MOMENT

& THINK ABOUT THIS …

You Are Not ‘Married’

Until after the Wedding Ceremony, Right?

During the "First Look",

The imagery and videos

Are not yet of a married couple, Right?

You are not wearing your Wedding rings yet, Right?

In our 20 Years of experience,

Couples who have chosen to have a '"First Look"

at their Wedding,

ONLY do this to save time.

They are cheating themselves out of the deep,

heartfelt emotions they both feel

when seeing each other for the first time on the aisle

in front of all their loved ones to witness.

Read the next paragraph Carefully ...

Close Your Eyes - Envision this...

In lieu of a "First Look,"

During Your Ceremony,

Let your Spouse-To-Be enjoy the moments up until it's time to take

your ONCE IN A LIFETIME walk.

Have him/her turn their back,

facing away from the aisle ….. ( or Blindfold them )

Get yourself positioned with your Dad

or your loved one

The person who will be escorting you down the aisle.

Pause at the beginning of the aisle,

usually in line with the last rows,

(you + whomever is walking you down the aisle)

Take a long pause.

Take Your 7 SECONDS

For that moment,

All Eyes Are On You.

Except Your Spouse-To-Be...

Let all of your loved ones soak in your beauty,

Your immense joy!

Take a deep breath,

Take a bunch of mental images of the entire room.

Tip : This gives photographers time to catch

that exact moment right before your loved one

turns to see you for the FIRST TIME,

that perfect reaction

Organically!

Then turning quickly to get your reaction as you start down the aisle.

Especially if you only hired one photographer to capture

your entire wedding day.

HOW THEY ASKED by The Knot :

Your Spouse-To-Be will be

THE LAST PERSON

IN THE ROOM TO SEE YOU.

At this moment, have your Officiant / Best-Person

next to your forever love

tell them to turn around and face you.

Your Spouse-To-Be will be the

VERY LAST PERSON

IN THAT MOMENT

TO SEE YOU.

The emotions we have captured over the years

of this moment are PRICELESS!

We have won countless awards with images

caught of this very moment

Take Your 7 Seconds

Videographers and Photographers alike

are usually the ones

who will advise you both to have

a "First Look" on your Wedding Day.

This is so that they can get

intimate footage of the two of you

before the Wedding Ceremony.

Aside from the reasons above,

Now think of the time and money invested

into your Wedding Day.

Why would you want to not have that crazy

built up emotion on the aisle?

Why would you not want

Your best friends + family members

to witness your forever love

seeing you for the first time?

Why would you want to rob

the most important people in your life

the most exciting part of the Wedding?

How They Asked by THe Knot !

We have asked countless guests at weddings ...

What is your favorite part of the wedding day …

HANDS DOWN ...

It’s the reaction of witnessing the couple

see each other for the very first time!

Please Consider Our Advice.

Do not rob all of us from witnessing

the most exciting part of the wedding day!

Having a "FIRST LOOK"

DOES NOT save time!

Any Seasoned Wedding Photographer will be able

to capture hundreds of images

during the cocktail hour.

Replace the idea of having a "First Look"

with an : “ I LOVED YOU FIRST “ moment instead.

This is what we call "Daddy’s First Look."

Honor your parents, They Loved You First!

Your parents deserve being honored on your Wedding Day.

After all, next to you both,

this is a very special day for them.
